Out-going president, Bob Metcalf, handed the symbol of authority, the gavel to new president, Gary Settle, who has been climbing up the V.P. ladder and is now officially, the head of the Lion Pride. We’re proud to have him too. Bob Metcalf gratefully thanked the Lion team and recognized the contributions of the members, especially their wives. The highly publicized Y2K prophecies turned out to be more optimistic than anticipated and, instead, turned out well for the Lion programs and all our service projects.

Joining President Settle as members of the new board are Buck Payne, first V.P.; Tom Tepper, second V.P.; and Yogi Bear, third V.P. The new secretary is Harry Newlin, Mike Leake is treasurer, Skippy Giles is the Lion tamer and Walter B. Kilby is the tail twister.

Other directors are John Schultz, second year, Phil Smith, second year, Jim Treadway, first year, and Bill Cushman, first year. The membership director is Bob Darby with John Schultz and John Byam as committee members.

The much relieved and sincerely appreciated Bob Metcalf will continue to serve as immediate past president. He “piloted” the Lions Club professionally and ended his assigned mission with a smooth landing. Thanks, Bob.
