Music, food and children’s games are among the evening’s attractions before the fireworks are shot off over the pond at Avon Hall in Washington on Sunday, July 28. The celebration coincides with the town’s 242nd birthday. The fireworks were supposed to be launched at the town’s annual Fourth of July party, but were rained out. Organizers of Sunday’s fireworks said an observance of the town’s birthday may become a regular event if attendance warrants.
The Flint Hill annual firemen’s carnival will be held this week with the newly crowned Miss Virginia Sheri Huffman leading the parade on Thursday evening.
