Historical Society
to host picnic
The Rappahannock Historical Society will be holding their annual meeting and picnic on Sunday, Aug. 4 at the home of Col. John Bourgeois on Hunters Road in Tiger Valley. This is for current members and those wishing to join that day. The picnic begins at 3 p.m. with a short business meeting at 3:30 at which time officers and board members for the 2002-03 year will be elected.
There will also be a report on the progress of the upcoming County oral history.
Those attending should bring a covered dish and a chair. Col. Bourgeois will be fixing his special smoked chicken. Musical entertainment will be provided by Virginia Scott. For additional information call the Historical Society office at 675-1163, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Farm Bureau to
sponsor seminar
The Rappahannock County Farm Bureau will be holding a free seminar, open to the public on Monday, Aug. 19 at the Rappahannock County Farm Bureau Office on Medicare Supplements and Long Term Care.

Information sought
The Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department will celebrate its 50th anniversary this fall and members are currently compiling a book for the event. All fire queens and honorary fire chiefs for the past 50 years and other individuals having knowledge or information should contact Mr. Paul Poling at 937-5205 to help with this endeavor.
