I am writing in response to
Mrs. Alice Butler’s request for comments on the future development of the town of Washington, Va.
The beauty of this county has been preserved over the years by the foresight of the planning and zoning committees and the ordinances that they set out for future development. The balance of a community’s residential and business population is a difficult thing to achieve, as there is always the pressure of development in both areas.
The residents of this county enjoy a quality of life that few other areas in the northern half of Virginia offer. That very quality of life we all enjoy is what attracts new families to our county, placing even more pressure for development and thus more request for “exceptions” to our zoning ordinances.
