The National Garden Clubs and the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs recently awarded purple ribbons of Achievement to the Rappahannock County Garden Club for its Standard Flower Show, “In this Delightful Garden Grows...” which was held last spring.
Judgment for the award was based on a Book of Evidence prepared by club members Betty Wood and Celine Siira and submitted to the state and national clubs for evaluation. The ribbons were presented to the club at its July meeting.
The Rappahannock County Garden Club meets at 1:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Washington Fire Hall. Meetings are open to the public to anyone interested in gardening, flower arranging, and horticulture. For more information call Susan Jones (6753152) or Mary Revercomb (987-8489).
Next month’s meeting, on Aug. 21, will feature a program by Jenie Cate, owner of Blue Rag Nursery near Etlan. Her nursery specializes in daylilies and peonies.
