The two-story home commands impressive views of the historic homes in Tiger Valley and, in the distance, the wonderful shapes ’ and varying hues of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The Mahoneys have taken advantage of the wonderful interior light* cathedral ceilings, and massive stohe fireplace to showcase their collections of art and artifacts. The retired couple’s multiple interests have filled their house with unique collections of art, books, textiles and musical and operatic videos. ■ • . '
Art works cover the walls, from monumental brass rubbings done in England, works bv Picasso, Dali, and Lautrec, to WPA art of the depression era. Other intricate sculptures, fascinating mobiles, and three-dimensional puzzles provide intriguing sights throughout the home.
While work goes on for the House Tour, other members of the Episcopal Church Women are busy drying flowers and foliage, collecting containers, and planning for the design and execution of the many arrangements that will fill Trinity’s hall on the days of the event.
The entire event has turned out to be a classic fall weekend for the area, and is the chief fund raising event foY the women’s organization.
