Workshop
scheduled
On Sept. 25, the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) will conduct a workshop titled “The Land Use/Water Quality Link” to help inform elected officials, and others who make land use decisions, about the linkages between land use decisions, growth management, water quality and quality of life.
The workshop is designed to provide resources and tools to shape policies and implement land use practices that are protective of water resources.
Topics will include the introduction of sound land use principles, building consensus for sound land use decisions, and concrete reasons why elected officials should care about water quality.
Two case studies that highlight local challenges and relevant lessons learned will be featured.
The workshop will be part of the ninth annual Virginia Watershed Management Conference, conducted by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, and will be held at the Hotel Roanoke on Sept. 25 to 27.
