If it’s “nigged” (steep and mountainous), it’s a 50acre minimum lot at $2,500 per acre. She added that there is a 50-acre lot at $3,000 an acre which hasn’t sold yet. The more remote lots and homes are being bought as weekend homes.
Currently there are 24 parcels of land ranging from a quarter of an acre in Washington, selling for $20,000, to 175 acres which has barns and ponds on it for $1,295,000.
Ms. Henry's observation is that people are preferring parcels ranging from 25 acres to 50 acres and the average price range is from $150,000 to $400,000. She finds the market busy and active up to $400,000. Over that it gets quieter. “ There’s just nothing under $100,000.”
The real estate brokers in the county are busy, and everything points to things staying that way. They only wish the inventory of homes for sale were greater.
