Diane Bruce was appointed County Clerk by Circuit Court Judge Raynor V. Snead to fill the unexpired term of Ned Jones until November 1978. Ms. Bruce will then have to stand for re-election. The oath of office was administered by Ms. Bruce early Monday morning by Judge Snead.
The Washington 4-H Garden Club made approximately $20 on their door-to-door corn sale last weekend. The 4-Her’s expect to be back in the corn vending business in ten days or so when the second crop comes in.
The church bell, damaged during a tornado in 1929, pealed once more Sunday after its restoration and relocation in a new steeple atop the Woodville Baptist Church. Bellringers were the oldest active member, Raymond Johnson and the youngest active member, Kristie Johnson.

Thirty children from Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison and Fauquier counties have been involved in a two-week program called “The Mountains.” In its fifth year, the program was started by high school English teacher Jon Heddleston. Five Rappahannock students have been involved this summer in the Summer Quest program.
