decision
It was heartening to he
present when the Board of Supervisors made their decision to turn down the application for Sunnyside Institute.
Although Mr. Cole withdrew his proposal before Chairman Estes cofild make the final vote, thfe Board members who did vote, as well as the audience, cited concern from the impacts of traffic, noise, lighting and hours of operation.
! These were the critical factors in declaring the institute to be unsuitable for the proposed location.
Traffic would have increased from the service trucks for the meals, w aste, etc. needed to serve upwards of 90 conference guests up to 12 times per month.
• Additionally, there was traffic to be considered from extra employees and unlimited visitors to the visitors center, to be open Saturdays and Sundays.
; Of course, this was still only part of the picture.
As the Inn expands, too, there is already additional traffic in town and one could hardly believe it will decrease with each newly created commercial venture.
