She was a waitress for many years at the New York Cafe in Middleburg and later worked as a clerk at the former Carriage House Cleaners in Warrenton until her retirement.
She was a member of the Thornton Gap Primitive Baptist Church in Sperryville. Mrs. McClanahan loved horses and gardening.
She is survived by one sister, Magdalene Dwyer of Sperryville; one brother, James W. Bowen of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a special friend who cared for her daily, Wayne Baldwin of Culpeper, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at Thornton Gap Primitive Baptist Church, Sperryville by Elder Richard Cox. Interment will be in the Warrenton Cemetery.

John Peyton Leake, 61, of Culpeper, died at his residence on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
He was born Nov. 23, 1940 in Rappahannock County to the late Fred Leake and Ruby Jenkins Leake.
Mr. Leake is survived by his daughter, LeeAnn Famham and her husband, Richard of Orange; his girlfriend, Betsy Woodard of Culpeper; two brothers, Charlie Leake and his wife, Linda of Fredericksburg and Maury Leake and his wife, Dottie of Marshall and three sisters, Jessie, Shirley and Alice.
Additional survivors include two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jenkins Leake; two brothers, Leroy Leake and James Leake and two sisters, Ruby Marjorie Stringfellow and Mae
