Fifteen minutes is being added to the school day this year. At Rappahannock Elementary School, the day wilh begin at 8:10 with the “tardy” bell ringing at 8:20. The day will end at 3:20.
According to Principal Raye Tupper, the day at RCES will be restructured, creating a remediation/enrichment time which will be at least 35 TOHiHtes long. This 35-minute bhi^k* of time will take the pijcg of the much shorter “resource” period of last year.
Mrs.Tupper made clear th&i the goal in the school is to pjrbj’ide both remedial and enrjchment time within the school day. Last year’s “extended day” program, wlifch took place after school, w4s Jjffered to only four grade levels and served only a limited* Tiumber of children. The obvious advantage of this lon^e^ day is that all of the children would be able to participate in both the remedial and enrichment activities.
