It is obvious that this husband and wife team have been moving in harmony for many years. “Junior” Switzer and his wife Gloria have spent most of their lives making music.
When Milton “Junior” Switzer was 11 he received a gift. Given first to his father, the Rev. Milton Switzer, a Baptist preacher w ho was collecting discarded “treasures" from the wealthy to give to the needy in his congregation in the skid row area of Philadelphia, this gift was an unusual saw — one that needed to he “played.” Even by the age of 11. the young Switzer’s musical talents were evident, so not much pleading was required before the saw was his to explore. His older sister who played the violin, lent him her how.
Drawing music from the saw came easily for Switzer, and with the preacher on the accordion and the son on the saw. their ministry on the streets of Philadelphia began to draw the curious and the
