“We have the haves and we have the have nots. And a lot of them are not aware of the have nots,” said Mrs. Davis in an interview this week, explaining she doesn’t want to offend anyone with her remarks, but she has been in the trenches as they say, and has seen for herself.
The less fortunate families are familiar ones to Mrs. Davis as she drives throughout the county, visiting their homes, some of which do not have indoor toilet facilities.
The first thing she notices when she walks into the home of a needy family is how “airy” the houses are.
“The windows are bad. When the wind blows, they rattle and are loose. The doors are bad. The porches are bad. Some don’t have toilet facilities. They have to use an outhouse,” she says.
“That’s the way of life for some people here,” Mrs. Davis explains.”They usually welcome you and are happy there is someone there to help them through this time. And it may be a temporary thing where someone is down on their luck for a year. Some families
