Barbara Heile Sherwood's show of paintings “Close to Home " will be closing Dec. 15 at the Warrenton campus of Lord Fairfax Community College. The work was done during the spring and summer months and now stands in strong contrast to the ever deepening winter colors that surround us at this time.

Bloodmobile coming Jan. 3

Mark your calender for Friday. Jan. 3, 2003 for the next bloodmobile at the Washington Fire Hall. It will run from 3 to 7.p.m. Start the New year out by giving the gift of life to someone in need. For further information call 675-3638.

Health screening programs set

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening Programs to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center.

On Dec. 12 at 1 p.m., there will be a program on Stress and Relaxation Breathing by Karen Gerndt; on Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. Cheryll Green of the Health Department will present a program on Mind/Body Connection and on Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. Jerry Wood, Rite Aid Pharmacist will present a program on Medication Management.

EMT course announced

The 110-hour Emergency Medical Technician course will be offered at the Flint Hill Vounteer Fire Company, beginning on Jan. 7 and continuing through May 13.Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Persons competing the course and passing the state examination will be certified in Virginia as EMTs.

The enrollment fee is $20 per student, and textbook cost (Brady’s Emergency Care) is approximately $60.
