these kids that you’ve known for years grow before your eyes. They handle the ball with a level of confidence that sometimes is lacking in other settings. Shy students are transformed as they play a game they love.

How does this happen so quickly?

Sweet Taylor Miller runs like a deer, cutting through the opponents’ blocks as she focuses on the net. Dorian Matthews, funny and shy, catches the ball, assesses the situation, and sails it through the air without effort, making a seemingly impossible threepointer.

Our athletic director, Mike Kenney, deserves a lot of credit. He works tirelessly, promoting athletics for our children, beating the drum for money for the athletic department.

Just as important, however, are the parents of these young people. They drive to games all over seven counties, sell pizza and candy bars to hungry fans, and cheer on the team, even when the score is lopsided.
