It started out simply enough. Lance and Julie Huber were in corporate jobs that didn’t satisfy their inner artistic feelings nor their entrepreneurial spirits.
And one day, something extremely ordinary happened. Julie Huber saw something in a catal°g.
“I saw a birdhouse in a catalog, and my husband said, ‘I can make that,’ “ she recalled. “And he did. And people said, “You should be doing that.’ “So they did, making birdhouses that were replicas of Monet’s home in France, showing four different views.
From that humble beginning a successful company has developed that now features a retail shop on the main street in Flint Hill.
Yet, no matter how much small-town charm the Braeland Studio may have, the reach of the Hubers’ products is worldwide.
“That is the biggest reaction,” Julie Huber said. “People can’t believe that we’re right here. They say, ‘Did you know you have a whole window at Harrods?’ Or, ‘I saw your stuff in Australia.’ ”
