Although last week ended in a “flurry,” with school closed for two days, it wasn’t the worst thing to happen overall. We all know that exams are coming up, and basketball season is in its usual frenzy, and it meant the postponement of our traditional Sarah’s Supper and Christmas program. All of these things can be rescheduled.
What the snowstorm created had far greater impact than just being an annoyance to the usual over-extended calendars that we all tote around. Teachers who have been wearing the strained looks of moreto-do-than-hours-to-do-it-in
had an unexpected present when they woke up Thursday morning.
Wet, glorious white snow blanketed the county, and no one could move. No school, no trips to Blockbuster to rent or return movies, no basketball practice. Just quiet.
Falling snowflakes landing on faces. Branches turning white. Cats stepping gingerly, holding their paws mid-air to test their footing.
Just quiet.
