Budget Input
To begin the process of developing the schools’ budget for fiscal year 20032004, the School Board took input from the public on their opinions regarding funding priorities.
Margaret Lee, President of the Rappahannock County Education Association (RCEA), was the first to speak, and she expressed the thoughts of her organization's membership. She noted that a recent survey indicated that morale amongst school staff is no longer their number one concern, and she thanked Interim Superintendent Williams for her efforts in contributing to that, and then listed RCEA priorities. They include: a salary increase for RCES custodian Jimmy Deal; level heath care benefit funding; no staff cuts; funding of a part-time employee for the testing of special education students; a salary scale for aides; increased compensation for unused leave for retirees; and a minimum five percent salary increase for teachers.
