The 12th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will feature Dr. Belle Whelan, the Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia as the special guest speaker on Sunday, January 19 at 4 p.m.

The celebration is sponsored each year by the Julia E. Boddie Scholarship Committee of Rappahannock County.

The program will also feature a student essay contest entitled, “Martin Luther King Jr.'s I have a dream: What the dream means to me.”

Area students in grads 512 are invited to participate.

Essays should be no more than 300 words in length, and should include the student’s name, age, grade, school name, home address and phone number.
