ence report attached to the No Child Left Behind Act (H.R.1), signed into law on Jan. 8,2001.

The Santorum amendment states: “Where topics are taught that may generate controversy (such as biological evolution) the curriculum should help students to understand the full range of scientific views that exist, why such topics may generate controversy, and how scientific discoveries can profoundly affect society.”

Smith said, Tm not saying we should force creation on everybody. Just give students the information and let them decide for themselves.”

Upon his arrival in Washington Smith will meet with representatives from the offices of Sen. Rick Santorum and Rep. Robin Hayes. Plans are also being developed to meet with officials from the U.S. Department of Education.

Smith’s speaking schedule still has a few openings for churches or organizations interested. He can be reached at (704) 782-8946, and the Creation Quest Website is www.ymbc.org.
