I was just reading the story on bears in Sperryville in the July 24 edition of the Rappahannock News.

I too have been seeing a bear— in the Harris Hollow area. I first noticed evidence of him during the winter months. I had been feeding two steers for slaughter in the barn and noticed that something had been bedding down in the loose hay.

Not long after thatd noticed bear droppings in the bam yard that had feed in it like the kind I was feeding the steer. I never saw him although I knew he was around.

After I took the steers to the slaughter house, I saw the food that was left over in the feed box disappear a little at a time. When it was gone, he knocked over an old freezer I used to store feed in. It was empty. So I thought he had left the area. I hoped he did.
