Recent Rappahannock County High School graduates Adrianne Moore and Rachel Sharp competed on the winning East girls’ soccer and softball squads, respectively, in the 32nd annual Virginia High School Coaches Association (VHSCA) AllStar games.
The VHSCA competitions, held from July 8-11 in Hampton, Va., featured athletes from high schools across the state. Both Moore and Sharp were the lone Group A representatives on each of their teams.
In the girls’ soccer match, the East team defeated the West squad, 1-0. Moore played both as a midfielder and defensive back in the tightly-contested game, which was called with 8:59 remaining due to lightning strikes.
In the girls’ softball game, the East squad defeated the West, 6-2. Sharp pitched three innings, giving up one hit. At the plate, Sharp had a two-run single along with two sacrifice bunts to aid in the East team’s victorious effort.
