In less than two weeks, voters in Rappahannock County will decide how they are going to vote on Nov. 4. This is another in an occasional article on candidates.
“I believe strongly in the Sheriff’s Office and what we, as a team, have done for the citizens of Rappahannock County,” Larry Sherertz said as he reflected Sunday afternoon on his past five years as Sheriff.
“I’m excited about our joint accomplishments. Finding the needs of the community and achieving results by delivering solutions are my measure of personal success in a job. I believe we have met that test.”
Sherertz, 55, who lives in Washington, is running against Steve Butler, 59, of Boston, a former uniformed officer of the U. S. Secret Service.
Sherertz was appointed sheriff by a panel of four Circuit Court judges in 1998 when his popular predecessor, Gary Settle, resigned to go back to the Virginia State Police.
