Mystic rare performance
Mystic Fire, Rappahannock's own Oriental (belly dance) dance group will perform its first full length show at Ki Theatre in Washington on Nov. 7 and 8 at 8 p.m. Mystic Fire draws its inspiration from a mixture of tribal and Egyptian dances, especially those of an ancient gypsy quality. The performance on Nov. 7 is reserved especially for women and Nov. 8 is for the entire community. Call 987 8953 to reserve a spot. CCLC annual auction
The Child Care and Learning Center will hold its eighth annual Fall Auction and Party on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue in Washington. An admission fee of $20 includes food and libations. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and browsing in the Tag Sale Room, bidding on silent auction items and getting a close look at the items up for live auction at 7 p.m.
Cemetery cleanup Nov. 8
Everyone is invited to join in a general cleanup day for Sperryville Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. Bring whatever tools that may be of use in cleanup and trash removal. Refreshments provided.
Free Clinic open
The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local branch of the Fauquier Free Clinic, operates on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month at the Rappahannock County Health Department in Washington. The next one is Oct. 29. Those in November will be on Nov. 5 and 19. Patient registration is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. For further information, call 675-2525 or 347-0394.
Yoga classes
Sun and Moon Yoga Studio continues fall Yoga classes at the Belle Meade Bed and Breakfast Schoolhouse on FT Valley Road, (Route 231) until Dec. 21, (except Thanksgiving day). Drop-ins are welcome. Fees are $10 per class if attending more than six sessions: $12 for drop-ins. Classes are held from 10:30 a.m.-12 noon Mondays, taught by JJ Gormley and 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, taught by Mary O'Meara. Lifecasting class
Rappahannock County High School Art teacher, Joy Sours-, will teach Lifecasting on Saturday, Nov. 15 through the Adult Education Program.
Lifecasting creates life-size life-like sculptures through the use of molds and plaster. The artists create molds using their own hands, feet, or faces. The sculptures preserve the natural beauty of the body and, if the artist chooses, can be posed to create intriguing or amusing yet useful works of art such as bookends, candleholders, etc.
