Oriental dance is about. Oriental dance is very ancient. It was for women to heal. Originally they danced with the whole village. The men began to find that it was too powerful and they said the women could only celebrate and dance on their own and at weddings and ceremonies, etc. This dance group is more folkloric, akin to tribal belly dancing.
Mystic Fire recently performed at the WAMEDA Hafla dinner show put on by the Washington Area Mid-Eastern Dance Association. It was very special to see not only our work bear fruit but also to see our teacher Charmaine Lee recognized for her beautiful talents as a choreographer and a dancer.
