One survey by The National Council on the Aging reveals that fewer that 33% of parents of adult children discuss plans for long-term care with their offspring. Unfortunately, all too many families postpone the discussion of longterm care until the hospitalization of a parent makes it necessary to do so. By that time, they have only a few days to develop a plan, which makes for a very stressful situation. Not only must children confront the health concerns of their parents, but they must also find the best situation for dealing with them. With all this in mind, both parents and their adult children are utged to discuss this and other issues surrounding aging before the need arises.
