The book’s dust jacket claims that by citing the conservative experience, the authors show liberals what they must do to regain the power they once held. At the same time, the book warns that conservatives are making two critical mistakes today that can return the liberals to power in a closely divided nation.
Viguerie is certainly qualified to offer advice. He transformed American politics in the 1960s and 70s by pioneering the use of direct mail fund-raising. He used computerized direct mail to build the conservative movement, which then elected Ronald Reagan as the first conservative president of the modem era.
Although Viguerie has been described as the “Funding Father of the Conservative Movement,” many liberals have also gained insights from his book. Alan Colmes, co-host of Fox News’ Hannity & Colmes said, “until we liberals find our own Richard Viguerie, we should read this book and take notes.”
