An opportunity for all to take a step back in time will be the guest appearance of a once-famous 19th century Virginia preacher, Dr. William E. Hatcher, portrayed by the Rev. Fred Anderson of Richmond.
According to Karl Burke of Madison, long-time organist for the Flint Hill Baptist Church, Rev. Anderson is much in demand as he travels around Virginia today depicting a preacher who was a household name in the state 100 years ago.
“He is inspiring, humorous, and profound all at the same time. You’ll never want the service to end,” says Burke.
Rev. Anderson, who appears in a period white linen suit of the era and clutching an old bible, is executive director of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society and the new Center for Baptist Heritage and Studies at the University of Richmond.
