The scene at Giant Foods in Warrenton was hectic Tuesday. Hundreds of residents — local and otherwise — waited in line for hours to get flu shots. Although the vaccines were scheduled to be distributed between noon and 6 p.m, lines started forming at 5 a.m.

Giant staff set out chairs up and down aisles for those waiting. Two hundred and thirty people — mostly senior citizens — received the vaccine; others were turned away.

Many v . *e frustrated; after waiting for more than four hours, one woman was unable to get her shot. “It was ridiculous,” she said. ‘There were people on oxygen, in wheelchairs. There's got to be a way to get the vaccine to the people who are most at risk.”
