Ki Theatre to
become office
space?
County administrator John McCarthy brought up a matter raised in an earlier session concerning space the county rents to others. McCarthy indicated he was interested in the best use of county property for the taxpayer and suggested that the old Methodist Church building—rented for the last 10 years to Ki Theatre—might be better utilized as county office space. A number of potential problems that could complicate the conversion of the building to office space were discussed, including the substantial cost of renovation, high cost of maintenance of a clapboard building of that age, the “impossibility” of changing the historic fa9ade or structure—“would the Architectural Review Board (ARB) approve Hardiplank?” it was queried, and the building’s suitability for office space.
