Standing still and/or pretending to be dead, as I’ve heard are measures to be taken, wouldn’t have worked for me and unlike what Tve been told about “stunning a snake with a handy stick” while you punt for your next move wouldn’t have worked either. I would never have given up my walking stick.

We were never far from water. It was either to the left of us or to the right of us this babbling body of sometimes not much more than a stream. There are still glimpses of tortured trees and giant boulders tumbled against each other in odd formations from the flooding of some years ago that carved an even wilder path through this part of the forest.
I could hear the falls before I could see them - that unmistakeable sound of rushing water.
I felt like I was peeking through heavy draperies to see what was onstage as we parted the final curtains of forest greenery to have them come into full view.
They are made up of a series of three pools. The water cascades gently from its higher point flowing into one and then spilling into another and then the last.
These falls are not thunderous and boisterous with large sprays of water creating sprays
