Planning is underway for the annual “The Taste of Rappahannock,” to be held in September. Now in its seventh year, it is one of the most popular and festive benefits and has become renowned for showcasing the county’s bounty with some of the best food Rappahannock has to offer, thanks to the generous contributions of many of the celebrated fine restaurants in the county.
The Taste of Rappahannock’ is looked forward to not only because it offers county residents a chance to eat delicious food but it gives the community a special opportunity to join in helping the county’s schools. The proceeds of this benefit go directly to support Headwaters, a public education foundation, to promote excellence in our county schools—both public and private. Among the well-known programs funded by Headwaters with community contributions are the Farm-to-Table Program, Starfish—the youth mentoring program, student intern awards, Global Spotlight lectures, and International Days at the schools.
