The marijuana charges stem from a truck trailer Kratz buried and wired with lights for growing marijuana. The heroin distribution stems from activity in Front Royal and heroin found in his possession.
Over the years
“There have been a lot of twists and turns in this case,” said commonwealth attorney Peter Luke.
“Kratz had a very sophisticated underground operation for growing marijuana. It had its own irrigation system. It also had its own cardon dioxide injected system to enhance to the fullest the growing potential of the marijuana. Kratz was an electrician. It took a lot of electricity to run his operation and he had figured out a way to bypass the meter so that it wouldn’t reflect that high use,”
