Air Force Lt. Col. Karen A. Pullen has retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of military service.
Prior to retiring, Pullen was an intelligence plans integration chief with the U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Neb.
During the ceremony, Lt. Col. Pullen was decorated with the Santos Dumont Medal of Merit and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
Pullen was one of the first Air Force foreign area officers and the first woman to attend the Brazilian Air Command and Staff College in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese, Pullen was the first woman attache in Brazil from 2001 to 2002. She was awarded the prestigious Santos-Dumont Medal for her efforts in improv
