It was in Alaska where Gilpin met his wife, Georgia, an Aleut Islander who is now vice president and executive assistant at Rappahannock National Bank. The couple has three children and five grandchildren.

The Gilpins moved to Rappahannock County in 1988, seeking respite firom harsh Alaskan weather, and built a log home on three acres of land that Ken’s father originally bought as a hunting camp. The cabin that his father built for hunting excursions now houses Ken’s woodworking shop.
