Piedmont’s
choice
This county is blessed that the choice for Piedmont District Supervisor is not a shoo-in. There are three committed people willing to be a part of a governing board that is sometimes in the unenviable position of taking a lot of heat. Rappahannock residents can rally quickly and strike sharply if they feel threatened. Sludge. Higher taxes. Threatened waterways. Development. Cell towers that don’t look like trees. Why do it? Why set yourself up for grief? For one candidate, the choice is clear. Her experience, commitment, and dedication to the land really offer her no choice but to run. She does so with the utmost confidence that she can, and will do everything in her power, to make a difference in county government. She is willing to sit at that table with her colleagues and challenge herself and them to be the best stewards of this county as is possible. The voters of Piedmont District are the ones that can put her on the board but the rest of the county is watching this race with a keen eye. Many would welcome her guidance and snappy wit. She might shake up the existing board but sometimes stirring the pot is a good thing. Piedmont District has only one choice and that is Monira Rifaat. Vote for her on November 7.
