^T,was fifteen years ago that Katherine and Dick Bull donated the modular home on their newly-purchased property up Harris Hollow to the t/hild Care and Learning ~®nt©r- The Center auctioned off the home in January of 1992 and used the proceeds to pay off the Center’s mortgage.
Fifteen years later, CCLC is auctioning off another donation from the Bulls at its 11th Annual Fall Auction and Party on Nov. 11 - a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo. Proceeds from the incredible assortment of items sold at this auction will go to support the programs for children at CCLC.
“The Bulls are an example of the loyal donors, supporters, and volunteers who have enabled CCLC to maintain a nationally accredited early childhood program in our rural community,” said Amy Burnett, current President of the CCLC Board. “Both Dick and Katherine have served on the CCLC Board over the years, joining many other familiar and dedicated volunteer Board members who have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the young children of Rappahannock County in these last three decades.”
CCLC has raised money over the years with spaghetti dinners, elegant country suppers, square dances, musicals, raffles, Christmas Bazaars,( Fourth of July booths, T-shirt* sales, Car Rallies. . . Eleven yews ago, the CCLC Board decided to begin focusing all of its fund raising efforts on one annual event that would always take place on the second Saturday in November. The Fall Auction and the annual CCLC fund drive in December generate the dollars to fund capital expenses and maintenance at both the preschool building and the After School Club at the Washington School.
