We are fortunate to have three good people as

candidates for Supervisor of Piedmont District. However, based on what we observed at the recent forum, one candidate - Dr. Monira Rifaat - stands out as exceptionally knowledgeable, experienced, articulate and motivated to bettering Rappahannock County. Rappahannock is facing a number of long-term challenges, and we need her dedication, knowledge and experience to help protect our county. Dr. Rifaat has been farming in Rappahannock for 26 years, and compared to the other candidates, has been more heavily involved in our community and active on many issues which the supervisors regularly deal with. This involvement has allowed her to bmld up a large knowledge and experience base which would make her especially effective and useful as a supervisor.

Dr. Rifaat is currently the elected chair of the local Soil and Water District Board and the elected vice chair of Area II District of the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Districts. She has worked with the Virginia legislature on various issues.
