The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will be making and selling wreaths, swags and bunches of greens as well as Christmas cookies on December 3, starting at 12 pm, at the Flint Hill Fire House. Come out and pick up some holiday greenery and decorate the house for the holidays. Then enjoy some of those good cookies on the ride home. An essay contest entitled, ‘Dr. King’s Dream: What I will do to keep the dream alive” is open to students in grades 5th & 6th, 7th - 9th, and 10th - 12th in Rappahannock County schools, public and private. The essay contest is sponsored by the Julia E. Boddie scholarship committee in celebration of the 16th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., birthday celebration held each year in January. The deadline for submissions is December 11. Submissions should include the student’s name, home mailing address, telephone, email address, age, grade, school name, parent/guardian’s name, and an essay of no more than 300 words (2 typed pages, double-spaced.
