Even if the supervisors got rid ot Lund use, properties in easement and land in agncultural and forestal districts would still qualify for land-use taxation, McCarthy said. Such districts are voluntary associations of property owners that agree with the county to not subdivide or develop their properties for a contracted amount of time, usually 10 years. The districts total some 20,000 acres in Rappahannock, McCarthy said.
Also, the land-use system already has a built-m penalty for properties that are taken out of agriculture for a different use.
