“Sport Horses.” Miner said, took that relationship to a new level, showing the deep understanding of a competition animal and human athlete-partner.
“The greatest memories are not always found in the show ring,” Miner said, “but during the journey to make it there.”
A local miniature horse is among Miner’s subjects — Patrick and his Orlean-based owner Kay Burnett. Other disciplines featured include show jumping, dressage, show hunters. flat racing, polo, foxhunting, Western and even trick horses.
Middleburg Thoroughbred horseman Tony Bendvenga is featured in a story about the great Calumet homebred Bardstown. while Maryland hunt master Christy Clagett is featured in a chapter about her foxhunter.
Some of the riders are renowned. such as show jumper Katie Prudent of Middleburg, but many others are on the way to reaching their goals.
“Each story is a snapshot into the life of a competitor ymd their horse, and reveals the reason why the relationship was a memorable one.” explained Miner.
