Jazz piano trio

The Bill Harris Trio will bring an evening of upbeat classic jazz standards to the Theatre at Washington, Virginia on Saturday, January 26, starting at 8 p.m. The trio is made up of Bill Harris on piano. Tommy Cecil on bass and Chuck Redd on drums. Each of them is among the Theatre audience’s favorite jazz musicians but this concert will mark their first appearance here as a trio. Bill, Chuck and Tommy are all well known in jazz circles in the Washington metropolitan area, where they appear frequently at venues such as the Smithsonian Jazz Cafe and Blues Alley. But each of them also travels extensively both in this country and abroad. For example, Bill's recent forays abroad have taken him to Chile and to Mexico. Chuck joined the Charlie Byrd Trio when he was just 21 years old. He traveled the world with the group for many years, and first came to the Theatre at Washington along with the late Charlie Byrd. Tommy is always in demand as bassist with numerous jazz ensembles and, like Chuck, has become a regular performer in "Little" Washington.

Tickets for the concert at the Theatre on Saturday, January 26 at 8 p.m. are $20 for adults and $5 for students 18 and under. For reservations contact the Theatre by phone at (540 ) 6751253, by email to Theatre VAi&’aol.com, or by mail to The Theatre, 291 Gay Street, PO. Box 322, Washington VA 22747.
