Schneider and his fiance, Wendy Murdoch, hope that by installing the solar panels they will reduce the amount of pollution their home contributes to.
“One of the goals we’ve been working toward with the house is to minimize the carbon footprint of the house,” Schneider said.
And he knows a thing or two about minimizing pollution.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Schneider worked in solar panel installation in New England. Now he is president of a company that designs alternative energy power plants.
Schneider hopes to inspire others in the county to go green.
“Hopefully..., other people in the county will see what we’ve done and it will encourage them to do similar things,” he said.
By the end of the board’s meeting, some of the members were expressing support for Schneider’s environmental ambitions.
“This is admirable what you’re attempting to do,” said board secretary Michelle Schwartz.
