If you invest $350,000 to light the fields, you’ll draw more fans, and in turn more revenue. Statistics show that Friday night football games draw three to four times as many fans as Saturday games. Instead of 200 on Saturday, you get H00 on Friday night. At $5. a pop, that’s $3,000 dollars more revenue. Do that five times, and you’ve increased revenue by $15,000 per season.
Throw in the other seven or eight sports that will gain revenue from the lighting, and the athletic gate* receipts will be thirty to thirty-five thousand dollars more. That means in 10 years or so, the lights will pay for themselves, and will also help support the football program.
So let’s invest in our kids' education, instead of backing out.
