Park Visits
Visits to Shenandoah National Park were up 20.3 per cent in 'the month of June 1977 as compared with June 1976. There were 321,000 June 1977 visits, which is a record travel month for June.
1977 calendar visits increased 22.9 per cent over 1976; there have been 1,299,200 visitors to the Park in 1977 compared with 1,056,700 for the same time period in 1976.
Overnight stays in the Park are up slightly over 1976; to date there have been 220,435 campers in 1977 with 220,172 campers for the same time period in 1976. June 1977 figures are up with 85,440 campers compared with 82,232 for June 1976.
Weather statistics for June 1977 taken at Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park reported a high temperature of 78 degrees with the low being 32 degrees. Total rainfall amounted to 2.86 inches.
