Information obtained by the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission from the Revenue Resources and Economic Commission indicates that Rappahannock County exports or sends to Richmond S544.284 in the form of various taxes and fees. In return the County receives $744,316, or a difference of $200,032 in the form of various allocations.
These monies coming from Richmond above what the county sends amount to approximately $36.00 per capita. However, the State has determined it needs roughly $45.00 per capita from the County to provide its services.
Within the 9th Planning District, Culpeper, Fauquier and Orange Counties all sent more money to Richmond than they received in return, while Madison and Rappahannock Counties received more from Richmond than they sent out. Overall the five-county area sent out $1,658,688 more than it received.
