Buntin also asked the Supervisors for $981 to purchase a new state police frequency radio. He said he’d received advance permission to operate three radios on state police frequency when the department’s current radios become obsolete in mid 1978 but had only been able to obtain funding to cover costs of two and part of a third at $1,351 a piece. “That will leave us one car short of a radio,’’ said Buntin, unless the Supervisors appropriate the additional $981. He added that he’d gone ahead and ordered two sets since it sometimes took a year for an order to be filled.
Chairman Luke noted that the Board would be receiving additional funds in lieu of taxes on national park land under a new federal program. He said he expected the county to get approximately $22,000 and noted that the money came with no strings attached and could be used for anything. (See separate story)
