Wood commented that Hawkins’s bill was only $50 but predicted that the next could be for $5,000 if the county adopted the policy of paying 'for treatment of any injury sustained during work by a county employee.
Supervisor Eastham agreed that payment of the $50 bill could set a precedent.
Wood said he thought it would have been more suitable to present the bill to the Amissville carnival. “If the carnival stand hadn’t been there, he (Hawkins) wouldn’t have hit it.”
