The Madison Wildlife Association will open it’s annual fall events with Bird Dog Trials set for Saturday, October 29th at 9 a.m. on the former Earnest Yowell farm «n the Ruth road, Rt. 652, approximately two miles west of Madison. There will be tt>ree divisions: Class 1County Dogs; Class 2-Out-ofCounty Dogs; and Gass 3Grand Champion.
The following Saturday, November 5th will feature the Beagle Trials, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on the Yowell farm. This race is also open to both county and out-ofcounty beagles with competition in two classes: 13 inch and under and 15 inch, with a Grand Champion to be named in final judging.
Lunch will be served at the “Honky-Tonk” for both the Bird Dog and Beagle Trials.
Highlight of the season is the traditional Fox Drag Race and Horn Blowing Contest at the A. Lawton Blankenbaker farm at Haywood which is scheduled for Saturday, November 26th with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the race at 10 a.m. In county and out-of-county participants are welcomed.
Concluding the day’s events a homestyle hunt breakfast is available at the Blankenbaker home. Prepared by Mrs. Blankenbaker, the menu consists of a long-time specialty, spare ribs arid sauerkraut served with crackling bread. An abundance of vegetables and homemade desserts complete the meal. Trophies will be awarded winners of these events at the annual Wildlife Banquet in March, definite date to be announced later. Further details pertaining
